Sunday 9 September 2018 Join us for a very special Project B event featuring a screening of the film Danseur, followed by a panel discussion on the topic of males in dance. Danseur is a short film with a narrative around boys braving bullies and silencing stereotypes in pursuit of their ballet dreams. The film features artists from some of the USA's foremost ballet companies, such as James Whiteside (American Ballet Theatre), Harper Waters (Houston Ballet), and John Lam (Boston Ballet), as well as young American male dance students striving to achieve their dreams. Click here to watch a clip from the film.  This film is suitable for all ages; however, please be aware that there is some language associated with what boys were called as youngsters that is included in their own words.  Following the film screening will be an insightful panel discussion, chaired by RAD Chief Executive Luke Rittner CBE and featuring: Scott Gormley, Director and Producer of Danseur (2018)  Kevin O’Hare CBE, Director of The Royal Ballet and RAD Trustee  Claire-Louise West, Executive Headteacher and former Programme Manager for the RAD's PGCE:DT programme and RAD Lecturer Shevelle Dynott, English National Ballet Artist and Genée International Ballet Competition 2004 medallist Project B is a range of initiatives that aim to widen access to dance for boys and to encourage them to take up dance.VenueRoyal Academy of Dance, Battersea, London, SW11 3RATimings14:00 | Arrival14:30 | Film screening15:45 | Panel discussion16:15 – 16:45 | A chance to chat over tea and cake Who is this event for?We would love to see teachers, students and parents at this event – anyone with an interest in this topic is welcome to attend.  Register to attendThis event is free to attend however we invite you to make a donation.
