Tavaziva is teaming up with the Royal Academy of Dance to bring you an exciting 2 week dance and music production project for young people aged 12-18. JOURNEYING BETWEEN is led by Tavaziva's Artistic Director, talented choreographer and musician Bawren Tavaziva and guest dancer Michael Joseph, you will work together to create original music and choreography for a performance at The Royal Academy of Dance. As well as capturing your choreography in an outdoor photography shoot with award winning photographer and film maker Jevan Chowdury. The project will take place in the music recording suite and dance studio at Caius House Youth Centre, 2 Holman Road, Battersea, London, SW11 3RL. Week 1: Create the Journeying Between musical soundscape. Bawren is a percussionist and creates music and soundscapes for Tavaziva's professional productions. You will have 5 afternoons to create an original piece of music. If you play an instrument, sing, beat-box, rap or are keen to learn, you are welcome to join week 1. Week 2: Create the Journeying Between choreography. Bawren will teach you his trademark fusion of African contemporary dance and will work with you to help you choreograph the final piece using the musical soundscape from week 1. If you are passionate about dance, and are excited and confident to perform, you are welcome to join week 2. Also in week 2, you will be in a film and photography shoot with award-winning photographer Jevan Chowdhury. The photoshoot will journey along the riverfront from Tavaziva HQ to RAD HQ and will capture your choreography. (The photographs will form part of an exhibition in Wandsworth in October and you will have access to your own pictures!) On the last day of the project, you will be rehearsing and performing at The Royal Academy of Dance to an audience of friends, family and invited guests. Wandsworth based companies Tavaziva, Royal Academy of Dance and Caius House join forces to invite talented young people to take part in this very special creative project. Book now for your place!
