Parents, teachers and youth professionals are facing a multitude of situations whereby young people are struggling with their mental health. With today’s pressures to succeed, children are at risk of dance exam stress and performance anxiety. This will be the focus of this workshop. The workshop has two purposes: to gain a better understanding behind anxiety and stress (including a brief section on brain chemistry); secondly, to look at some practical ways we can help people manage this stress. Aims The aims of this workshop are to: Introduce the basics and enhance understanding around ‘what is anxiety and stress’? Improve participant knowledge and understanding of exam and performance anxiety. Equip teachers and parents with the basic confidence and skills to support a young person with mental health problems.
