It seems designs for the new Battersea Power Station tube station that is set to open in 2020 have been approved by Wandsworth council. In a unanimous vote the Wandsworth planning committee approved the new designs put forward by Grimshaw and Partners. The project is to be funded entirely by the Power station’s private sector developers. The arrival of the new station is set to help bring potentially thousands of commuters and people to the local area.
Planning chairman and councillor Will Sweet said: “This is a momentous occasion in the ongoing story of Nine Elms.
“Bringing the Northern Line to Battersea has been a fundamental aim of the council for many years and a crucial part of the jigsaw that makes up the area’s regeneration.
“The arrival of tube services to this part of east Battersea will unlock the thousands of new jobs that are a key component of the area’s regeneration.
“The new station building looks world class and will be a fitting welcome to Nine Elms.”
