A six-week festival of “fun-filled activities” including a pop-up beach has now started at Battersea Power Station
The Summer Festival, which launched yesterday, July 22, started with a pizza party from noon until late at Danish restaurant Mother.Visitors enjoyed a day of free pizza, wine and beer until late last night.All in all it seemed to be a succesful opening day.
The six week festival takes place in the new Circus West Village and will include hip-hop classes and previews from the Edinburgh Fringe festival.
Kate Scanlan, the events manager for Battersea Power Station, said: “This is our first opportunity to bring our new public spaces alive with outstanding culture and entertainment for all.We’re particularly excited to be welcoming some of the UK’s best comedy acts, poets and spoken word artists, dancers and roller skaters into The Village Hall.”
“Comedians, Richard Herring and Ahir Shah will be performing previews of their Edinburgh Fringe shows in association with Avalon on Tuesday July 25.
“On Thursday July 27 Iain Stirling, the voice of Love Island, and Matt Richardson, will be performing their pre-Edinburgh shows. Doors open on both days at 7.30pm and tickets are £10 available from bactickets.co.uk.
“Summer Sundays runs throughout the festival and kicks off with Swing Patrol which will be providing a vintage band, DJ, dance lessons and performances by Air Patrol from 12-5pm on Sunday.
“There will be theatre performers, as well as live Jazz music from Jazz re:freshed and dancers.”
